CHARNEY HALL Christmas Card 2022


A Merry Christmas to all who may come across this blog!

My painting this year is one perhaps reminiscent of those dense birch and hazel woods around the slopes of Hampsfell that we explored in our youth when at Charney Hall School.

Merry Christmas Keith and to all Old Boys and Old Girls and Masters and Mistresses of Charney Hall wherever you are in the World. That's a wonderful picture you have uploaded Keith. I would also second Andrew's thanks and appreciation for "maintaining the site and all its memories and conversations". John Mathers (CH 1969-71) and myself (Tilak Paul CH 1969-71) have met up several times since my posting of our initial meet up last year including a recent visit to Ascot Racecourse. John and myself are therefore not only joining "Alcoholics Anonymous" as we appear to always be meeting in a Pub but I guess we will soon have to join "Gamblers Anonymous" having met and lost at Ascot Racecourse too! Take care Everyone .

CHARNEY HALL School Year/Team Photographs

Post updated March 14 2022 - more photographs added Post updated March 6 2024 - Football XI 1966 or 67? added Post updated May 8 2024 - Year 1896/7 added Recently sourced from the excellent article about the Podmore family by Frances Limbrey in June 2015, published by the Cartmel Peninsula Local History Society*, this is probably the first Charney Hall School Year photograph in existence. Taken around 1896 it features George and Matilda Podmore, their daughter Enid, two of their sons Eric and Hubert, together with 22 pupils.
