CHARNEY HALL Chronology

Here I post the School’s Chronology from establishment to closure. The dates are as accurate as I can ascertain at this time. 

There are some anomalies….for instance it is not clear how many old boys were killed in WWI. The whereabouts of the WWI memorial plaque still appears uncertain.

Some dates are approximate until further confirmation.

Any suggestions regarding the inclusion of specific milestones, and/or dates will be gratefully received!

CHARNEY HALL School Year/Team Photographs

Post updated March 14 2022 - more photographs added Post updated March 6 2024 - Football XI 1966 or 67? added Post updated May 8 2024 - Year 1896/7 added Recently sourced from the excellent article about the Podmore family by Frances Limbrey in June 2015, published by the Cartmel Peninsula Local History Society*, this is probably the first Charney Hall School Year photograph in existence. Taken around 1896 it features George and Matilda Podmore, their daughter Enid, two of their sons Eric and Hubert, together with 22 pupils.
